I returned from my travels around Mexico and Guatemala on 8 December, brimming with energy and ready to tackle the pre-Christmas build-up. Then I got hit by a nasty bout of flu. I don’t think it was Covid – I kept testing negative – but it was serious enough to keep me in bed for a week.

Ten days later I’m on the mend but still feel wiped out. So no cards have been sent, and decorations are pretty minimal. Just time this morning to improvise a wreath from stuff growing in the garden.

Hopefully I will be fully recovered by the new year, when I’ll share some tales from my travels with you. In the meantime, here’s a (live) ocellated turkey I spotted wandering around Palenque in Mexico – such wonderful colours and markings.

In the meantime, I’d like to thank you all for reading, following, and supporting me in 2023. I wish you a very merry and peaceful Christmas.

  1. Season’s greetings Kim 🎅🏽🎄lovely to make the ‘virtual tour’ of Mexico and Guatemala with you! So many of us have been laid low over Christmas. My take is that we all need to take our responsibility for the state the world is in and detox personally and universally.
Hope you feel better soon. Looking forward to your posts in 2024
